through the prettiest, most interesting, and most historic
neighborhood in Old Bordeaux, known as the "golden triangle."
Highlights of our walk will include: place de la Comédie,
in the heart of this old city; one of France's great theaters,

de la Bourse, bounded by quays opening onto the Garonne
and flanked by the Custom House and the Stock Exchange. During
our walk we will also visit the Cathédrale St-André,
the largest and most ostentatious church in Bordeaux. The
sculptures on the 13th-century Porte Royale are admirable,
as are the 14th-century sculptures on the North Door. Our

which offers wonderful views over the city. We will view other

stone tower in France; the Basilique St-Seurin;
and the Abbatiale Ste-Croix. Our afternoon will

including works by Perugina, Titian, Rubens, Veronese, Delacroix,
and Marquet. We return to our host families for the evening.

This morning we will have our French Language

the 15th-century Tour de Valois and the 13th-century Tour
de Lusignan. We will continue with a visit to the impressive
Cathédrale St-Pierre, begun in 1128 and restored in
the 19th-century. Flanked by towers, its facade boasts 75
statues, each in a separate niche, representing the Last Judgment.
This is one of France's most startling examples of Romanesque-Byzantine
style. Our afternoon concludes with a Walk along the
panoramic Promenade des Remparts, a path that flanks
