1 DEPARTURE FROM NORTH AMERICA

ARRIVE MANCHESTER - WINDERMERE (3 NIGHTS)
You will be met at the airport by your tour manager/guide
where we will board our own private coach and be transferred
to our hotel in the Windermere area. After checking in your
guide will be please to take you on some introductory
sightseeing including a visit to the Brockhole Visitors
Center and the Windermere Steamboat Museum.

THE NORTHERN FELLS AND LAKES
This morning we will visit Hill Top, the 17th century
farmhouse where Beatrix Potter lived and wrote her famous
children’s stories and stroll through the Beatrix Potter
Gallery. We will continue with a Driving Tour
around other beautiful lakes in the District such as Wast
Water, Ullswater, and Derwent stopping in villages such as
Keswick, Ambleside, and Grasmere. In Grasmere, we will also
see Dove Cottage, where William Wordsworth spent most
of his life and visit the Wordsworth Museum. We then
make our way back to Windemere

NORTHUMBRIA & HADRIAN’S WALL
We will skirt the border of Northumbria to visit the
borderlands and the archeological sites of Hadrian’s Wall,
built by the Romans to protect the south from the mysterious
Picts. Our visit will include the Housesteads and
Sewingshields Milecastle, some of the best preserved Roman
sites. After ample time to explore we return to the
Windermere area for our first performance.

WINDEMERE – OBAN AREA (3 NIGHTS)
We journey north through the beautiful countryside of the
Lowlands of Scotland. Passing by Glasgow, we will enter the
Trossachs, the home of Rob Roy McGregor. We will skirt the
shores of Loch Lomond and drive through the pass of Glencoe
to reach our base in Oban. After settling into the hotel, the
evening will be free to discover the beauty of Oban.

MULL AND IONA
This morning we take a cruise to the Hebridean islands
of Mull and Iona. The landscape of Mull is wild and desolate
with its moorlands, rocky cliffs and castles. The neighboring
island of Iona is a tiny jewel that charms visitors with a
sense of peace and stillness. It was here 1,400 years ago, St.
Columba established his monastery, making Iona the cradle of
Christianity in Scotland. For centuries, the island was the
burial place of Scottish kings. The 13th century Abbey
is the highlight of Iona, standing on the site of Columba’s
first church.

THE ISLE OF SKYE
The largest of the Inner Hebrides, Skye has some of Britain’s
most dramatic scenery. We will drive from Oban to the Kyle of
Lochalsh to cross the bridge into Kyleakin. Going around the
island, we will stop in Portree before continuing on to the
Old Man of Storr and a breathtaking and pristine view of
Raasay Sound. Then we will journey across the island to the
castle of Dunvegan, ancestral home of the Clan McLeod
that contains a fabled piece of the Fairy Flag, a fabled piece
of magical silk treasured by the clan for its protection.
Turning south, we will arrive at Armadale to take the ferry to
Mallaig. Once again, we will be treated to views of pristine
white beaches, vast mountain corridors and tiny villages as we
make our way back to Oban.

8
OBAN AREA - LOCH NESS AND INVERNESS (1 NIGHT)
We pass through the village of Fort William in the shadow of
Ben Nevis - the highest mountain in Britain before our
journey takes us on a search for the Loch Ness Monster,
beginning with an expedition along the shores of the Loch. If
we are unsuccessful in our sighting, our visit to the Loch
Ness Monster Museum provides photographic evidence to
challenge the skeptics. We go on to Inverness, the
traditional capital of the Highlands. Standing astride the
River Ness, the historic town center contains many lovely
shops and attractive buildings that have been carefully
restored to preserve its character. On arrival in Inverness
your guide will be pleased to accompany you on a local
Walking Tour
DAY 9 INVERNESS - ROYAL DEESIDE TOUR - ABERDEEN (1
NIGHT)
Today, we will follow the River Dee into the land of Robert
the Bruce. Our first stop will be Balmoral, first
purchased by Queen Victoria in 1852, and which now continues
to be the summer home of the Royal Family. We will make a
stop in the old railway and spa town of Ballater to
stroll among its many shop fronts. Then, we will stop at
Crathes Castle and Gardens before ending our journey in
Aberdeen for dinner.

10 LONDON
Your enjoyable and rewarding tour will come to an end as your
tour manager/guide accompanies you to the airport for the
return flight home.
