VolunTours: Experience and Transform

Casterbridge Planet Earth has developed a range of travel experiences that define who we are and the planet we live on. They are tours where humanitarian deeds meet our global needs.

There are so many lessons to learn from the tremendous work being carried out in many world communities to replant trees, preserve fish stocks, build schools and medical centers, and install new sewerage and water systems. Communities across the world are responding to the challenges they face with new initiatives, ingenious inventions, and a social commitment to profound change.

VolunTours

Of the three levels of Planet Earth programs, VolunTours provide a definitive experience of service learning, volunteerism and cultural immersion. In tours of 8-14 days, our VolunTours offer 6-12 days of service, with a day or two, plus evenings devoted to visits and leisure activities that capture the culture and natural wonder of the area you have chosen to visit.

VolunTours allow for experiences of personal and social transformation in communities of need. You are immersed in one locale, with little touring, and most time is spent on community service or on a practical environmental project.

All Planet Earth Programs Can be Tailored to Your Precise Needs

Every Planet Earth travel tour is custom designed to fit your group’s age range and thematic emphasis. It will be your own private service learning experience customized by you to fit your precise cultural or service desires and the educational emphasis of your choosing, be it science, the environment, nature and wildlife or authentic immersion into another culture.

Young People

There are so many ways our young people can benefit from these initiatives around the world. So much we can teach, and so much we can learn. So much help we can give, and so much understanding we can receive in return. Young people can develop a maturity beyond their years when they participate in a VolunTour global engagement experience.

For Older Participants

Casterbridge’s Planet Earth tours merge humanitarian and environmental service learning and volunteerism with some travel, whereby adults and alumni groups can be truly immersed into the culture and geography of the country or region they have chosen to visit. What is more, they have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and contribution for the local people and community that they have been visiting.

One Example of a VolunTour: Community Service in New Orleans

This example of a VolunTour is an 8-day tour to New Orleans with five full days of volunteer work.

You are flown into New Orleans, where you spend five full days volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. There is a day trip to Oak Alley and Laura Plantations, with several evening leisure activities, such as a ghost walk, tour of Mardi Gras World, and a jazz cruise.
