Valkenburg
is a town in the western Netherlands, in the province
of South Holland.
This is a popular destination where you will receive
a warm welcome with its
countless shops and restaurants where most of the locals
speak English.
DAY
1 Drive from school to Valkenburg crossing
at Dover. Arrival at your hotel in Valkenburg and check
in. Evening meal at hotel.
DAY
2 Morning visit to the Valkenburg Castle Ruins
and the Fluweelengrot,which looks down over the town
of Valkenburg. You can wander around the ruins at your
own pace taking in the site of the original Knight's
Hall, defence towers, dungeon and chapel. Under the
Castle, there is a huge labyrinth of secret escape passages
and caves. You visit the Fluweelengrot on a guided tour.
There is an evening match against a local team.
DAY
3 A spectacular way to see Valkenburg is 90
metres up on the chairlift. Enjoy the view as you ride
up to the top of the hill and then have fun taking the
slide to the bottom again.
After lunch you have the second match of the
tour.
DAY
4 Depart hotel with packed lunch (optional)
for Maastricht, the oldest fortified town in the Netherlands.
You could wander through the City Centre of Maastricht
and along the old Ramparts of the city and see the remains
of the fortifications. Make your way to the Graanmarkt
and board a Boat for a cruise along the river Maas,
a unique way to see the city of Maastricht.
Your third match will be in Maastricht.
Return to Valkenburg.
DAY
5 Depart Valkenburg and drive back to your
school, crossing at Dover.
