DAY 5 JAIPUR - AGRA VIA FATEHPUR SIKRI - After breakfast we will drive to Agra, via the deserted City of Fatehpur Sikri. Here large imposing gateways and palaces were built in red sandstone within this fortified city only to be abandoned a few years later. Among its many architectural structures are the palaces for queens and a Turkish sultana, built in varying styles, each perfect in itself. The Diwan-e-Khas is entirely unique in its concept. Inside is a tall vaulted room with an intricately carved central pillar supporting a platform that once held the emperor's throne. We will arrive in Agra in the evening.

DAY 6 AGRA - Our sightseeing in Agra, the former capital of the Mughal Empire, will include Agra Fort and Itmad-Ud-Dalulah-Tomb. One of the most important highlights of our tour to India will include the Taj Mahal, one of the seven man-made wonders of the modern world. It was built by the fifth Mughal emperor in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz. The monument took 22 years to build, 41 million rupees, 50 kilos of gold and 20,000 workmen. The Taj Mahal sits on a high red sandstone platform topped with a marble terrace. This evening we will transfer to the train station for an overnight journey in soft sleepers on the Marudhar Express to Varanasi.

DAY 7 VARANASI - We will arrive this morning and check into our hotel. Our sightseeing tour
of the city will include a morning boat ride on the Holy River Ganges to see the devout praying and bathing on the
banks, including the burning funeral pyres. The city tour will
also visit different temples and places of
spiritual significance.
