Germany &
Czech Republic
Germany's reunified capital Berlin is fascinating and culturally diverse. The Brandenburg Gate is a symbol of its turbulent history; the Reichstag a symbol of the war years. The classical buildings and fine museums invite you to experience its rebirth.

Prague is a fairy tale city. Step back in time as you roam the medieval cobbled streets once frequented by Mozart and Kafka.

HISTORIC BERLIN & PRAGUE

DAY 1 DEPARTURE FROM LONDON, ARRIVE BERLIN
Fly directly to Berlin, where you will be met at the airport by your guide and transferred to your hotel. You will then have the chance to freshen up before starting off on your orientation tour of the local area with a walk to Alexanderplatz for lunch. We will then meet up and take the metro to the Topography of Terror Museum, which provides historical information about National Socialism and its crimes. You can also visit the German Resistance Memorial Center that documents the motives, methods and goals of the struggle against the lawless National Socialist state. The final visit is to Checkpoint Charlie Museum, where we will view parts of the Berlin Wall, as well as an illustrated history of the Berlin Wall and the division it caused in the city and in Germany.

DAY 2 BERLIN
This morning we will take a city tour by bus to see the main sights, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Marx and Engels monument, the Russian war memorial Bebelplatz and the Telecommunications tower. We will follow the route of the Berlin Wall viewing numerous crosses and wreaths to remind us of the tragedies which occurred after the wall was built in 1961 before passing into former East Berlin to experience the changes taking place in this previously austere section of Berlin. We will view some magnificent 18th and 19th century structures along the Unter den Linden. We will include specials entries to the Wall Museum, the Reichstag, which was so instrumental in Hitler's rise to power, and Kurfurstendamm Cathedral.
This afternoon we will visit the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Thousands of Jews were sent to the camp where they faced especially brutal treatment and thousands of Soviet POWs were murdered in 1941; it is estimated that over 50,000 people died here.

DAY 3 BERLIN
Our Walking Tour with a local specialist guide will focus on Infamous Third Reich Sites. Sixty years later, some of the street names have changed but evidence of the Nazi past still exists. Our guides examine how the past is being looked at today and finish the tour above the exact position of Hitler’s bunker. In the afternoon you will get the chance to visit Wannsee, where the “Final Solution” conference was held.
