fortified city only to be abandoned a few years later.
Among its many architectural structures are the palaces
for queens and a Turkish sultana, built in varying
styles, each perfect in itself. The Diwan-e-Khas is
entirely unique in its concept. Inside is a tall vaulted
room with an intricately carved central pillar supporting
a platform that once held the emperor's throne. We
will arrive in Agra in the evening.

Mughal Empire, will include Agra Fort and Itmad-Ud-Dalulah-Tomb.
One of the most important highlights of our tour to
India will include the Taj Mahal, one of the seven
man-made wonders of the modern world. It was built
by the fifth Mughal emperor in memory of his beloved
wife Mumtaz. The monument took 22 years to build,
41 million rupees, 50 kilos of gold and 20,000 workmen.
The Taj Mahal sits on a high red sandstone platform
topped with a marble terrace. This evening we will
transfer to the train station for an overnight journey
in soft sleepers on the Marudhar Express to Varanasi.
