DAY
1 LONDON TO MEXICO CITY
- Depart London Heathrow to Mexico City where you will
be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for
dinner and a two-night stay.
DAY
2 MEXICO CITY/TEOTIHUACAN/MEXICO
CITY - After breakfast we depart for
a morning city tour. We will visit the Basilica of Our
Lady of Guadalupe, shrine of the Virgin Patron Saint
of the country for a visit to the old and the new temples.
We will also visit the Templo Mayor where you can see
a model of the ancient city. This was once the main
ceremonial centre of Tenochtitlan. We include a visit
to the Museum of Anthropology, one of the finest in
the world, which displays the history of the pre-Columbian
World. We continue to Teotihuacan archaeological site,
30 miles NE of Mexico City and among the largest man-made
constructions in the world. We explore the Pyramids
of the Sun and the Moon, the Avenue of the Dead and
the Quetzalcoatl Palace.
DAY
3 MEXICO CITY/ MERIDA -
We check out of the hotel after breakfast and fly from
Mexico City to the gracious, colonial city of Merida
where we will transfer to our hotel for three nights.
DAY
4 MERIDA - We
take a morning bus tour of the "White City"
featuring the 16th century Cathedral and the Paseo de
Montejo, Merida's wide boulevard with its elegant mansions
and buildings. The afternoon is at leisure.
DAY
5 UXMAL/MERIDA
- This morning we will depart for Uxmal, a great jewel
in the Maya Route. Here we will explore the Magician's
Pyramid, the Nunnery, the Palace of the Governor and
the Great Pyramid. We will proceed on to Kabah, just
14 miles from Uxmal, for a visit to the Temple of Masks.
In the evening we will see the Sound and Light Show
and then return to our hotel in Merida.
DAY
6 CHICHEN ITZA/CANCUN/MERIDA
- Today we depart for Cancun stopping at Chichen Itza,
the most famous Mayan site rich in temples and pyramids.
One of the mysteries of the Mayas is the knowledge they
acquired of the movements of the stars, which allowed
them to predict eclipses perfectly. We will visit the
Castle, the Temple of Quatzcoatl, the Temple of the
Jaguar Warriors, the sacred Cenote and the building
complex named as the Group of the Thousand Columns.
We continue to Cancun for a four-night stay.
DAY
7 XEL HA & TULUM
- We will make an early departure after breakfast to
Xel Ha National Park to swim with dolphins. After lunch
we drive to Tulum archaeological site, the only Myan
site by the Caribbean Sea. Later we return to our hotel
for dinner.
DAY
8 COZUMEL ISLAND & CHANKANAB
NATIONAL PARK - This morning we head
for Playacar and take the ferry to Cozumel Island to
visit Chankanab National Reserve. After lunch we will
catch the return ferry from Playacar back to Cancun.
DAY
9 CANCUN - Enjoy
a day at leisure in Cancun, one of the most famous resorts
with lunch and dinner included at our hotel.
DAY
10 DEPART CANCUN
- After breakfast we transfer to Cancun airport for
our return flight to London.
DAY
11 ARRIVE LONDON
- Your flight arrives back in the UK early this morning.
