# 11 THE BOOK OF KELLS IN TRINITY COLLEGE, DUBLIN
Trinity College is the oldest university in Ireland, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. It is situated in the heart of the city on a beautiful 40-acre site just south of the River Liffey with cobbled squares, gardens, a picturesque quadrangle, and buildings dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The college's Old Library is home to the Book of Kells, an 8th-century version of the four Gospels with elaborate scripting and illumination.
# 12 BUNRATTY CASTLE, CLARE
Bunratty Castle is a formidable castle built in the 15th century which has been preserved just as it would have looked in the 1500's when the O'Brien's, Earls of Thomond, ruled the region. The castle is one of the finest preserved in Ireland and offers the visitor an authentic look at medieval life in Ireland. Kinsale is one of the most attractive small towns in Ireland and it has a long and interesting history. Kinsale is a port city in County Cork and has been the sight of many historic Naval battles. One of the main attractions is the star-shaped Charles Fort, built in the 17th century by the English to protect the harbor. Today Kinsale is a top place to visit for its magnificent cuisine, its scenic harbor and the quaint and picturesque town streets.

Little compares to the breathtaking beauty of the Aran Islands. Visiting Inishmore, the largest of the islands, offers amazing scenery and history, including: Teampall Chiarain, dedicated to St. Ciarain; Dun Eochla, a circular Bronze Age fort; Clochan na Carraige, an early Christian beehive hut; Na Seacht d'Teampaill, the Seven Churches, a monastic settlement dedicated to St. Brecan; and Dun Aonghasa, an Iron or Bronze Age fort.
# 15 SCENIC DRIVE AROUND THE RING OF KERRY, KERRY
A scenic driving tour around the Ring of Kerry offers visitors the incredible scenery of the Iveragh Peninsula. You will cross the Lakes of Killarney and have the opportunity to visit the small villages of Killorglin, Glenbeigh and Caherciveen, and Valentia Island. The southern half of the peninsula includes the Coomaskista Pass, Staigue Fort, the best preserved Iron Age drystone fort in Ireland, and Sneem, a small village with brightly painted cottages.
# 16 THE ROCK OF CASHEL, TIPPERARY
On trips to central or southern Ireland, be sure to include a visit to the spectacular Rock of Cashel, a monumental cathedral complex, complete with high crosses and round towers. The Rock of Cashel, was the stronghold of the kings of Munster for seven centuries,dominates the surrounding landscape in County Tipperary. It was here that St. Patrick is thought to have converted the Kings and made the shamrock the emblem of Ireland.
