ur
original headquarters, Casterbridge Hall, was situated in the ancient
English village of Templecombe, once home to the Knights Templar and close
to some outstanding historic attractions. These include prehistoric Stonehenge,
Roman and Georgian Bath, the Abbey ruins at Glastonbury, Old Sarum where
William the Conqueror discharged his army after his successful invasion
of England, medieval Salisbury and Winchester, former capital of England.
With such an historic pedigree it is hardly surprising that in the last
twenty years we have operated an ever-increasing number of History Tours
and now offer an unrivalled range of worldwide itineraries to coincide
with all aspects of the history curriculum.

ANCIENT
HISTORY... Our 'Ancient History' tours can include tours in
Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt, China and Turkey as well as Roman Britain,
Roman France and Roman Italy. All our Ancient History tours feature some
of the lesser-known sites of antiquity as well as the major cities like
Rome and Athens.
THE MIDDLE AGES... Tours that emphasise
the Middle Ages include 'The Golden Age of Spain,' 'The Norman Conquest'
(visiting both France and England), 'Medieval Castles,' 'Cromwell and
the Civil War' and 'The Reconquest of the Iberian Peninsular.'
THE RENNAISSANCE... Our Renaissance
and Reformation tours include 'The Life of Luther' in Germany and a variety
of programmes exploring the art treasures of Venice, Florence and Rome.
MODERN HISTORY... Tours that continue
to the modern era include 'The Industrial Revolution' (featuring the heritage
attractions of Industrial England), 'London, Parliament and Government,'
'The Battlefields of World Wars I & II,' 'The Normandy Invasion' and 'Eastern
Europe & the Fall of the Iron Curtain'.
THEMATIC AND CHRONOLOGICAL DAYS...
In a genuine attempt to avoid confusing group members with haphazard and
unrelated materials, we aim, whenever possible, to provide thematic and
chronologically arranged content to each day of a tour. In France, for
example, thematic days dedicated to such items as 'The French Revolution,'
'The Life of Napoleon' and 'The Normandy Invasion Beaches' track the course
of momentous events and make for learning that is both fascinating and
fun!
Casterbridge Tours is a genuine advocate of the educational and cultural
benefits of our tours and we suggest you call 1-800-522-2398 or Register
now to obtain a copy of our publication, 'Journey Through History' for
further details.
