The Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, known as D-Day, is one of the most important events of the 20th century. A day exploring the beaches and sights associated with the invasion can be an incredible and eye-opening experience for any visitor. Our thematic day, led by a local specialist-guide, can include Sainte-Mere-Eglise, Utah & Omaha Beaches, Mulberry Harbor, the German Battery, Pointe du Hoc, & the American Military Cemetery.
# 22 MONT ST. MICHEL, NORMANDY
Mont St. Michel is one of the most enchanting sights in France. The steep climb up Grande Rue, lined with beautiful 15th and 16th century houses, cafes, and interesting shops, is always a memorable experience. Sitting at the top of Mont St. Michel is the Abbey, known as the "Marvel of the West," where ramparts encircle the church and a three-tiered ensemble of 13th-century buildings.

The Loire Valley is one of France's most beautiful regions and the countryside is dotted with spectacular Chateaux. The Loire Valley's largest residence and the brainchild of Francois I, Chateau Chambord, features a double spiral staircase thought to be by Leonardo da Vinci. # 28 THE ROMAN AMPHITHEATER IN ARLES, PROVENCE
The city of Arles is a must-visit for travelers looking to view great treasures left from the Roman Empire. In the heart of Arles lies Les Arenes, one of the most impressive surviving Roman monuments. This massive Roman Amphitheater was the largest building in Gaul and could seat up to 21,000 spectators. Arles features other Roman remains including the Antique Theater, Les Alycamps and the Baths of Constantine.
# 29 THE MEDIEVAL CITY OF CARCASSONNE, LANGUEDOC-ROUSILLON
Medieval Carcassonne is one of the great visits in all of Europe and certainly one of the most amazing places in France. Located in southern France, Carcassonne is a perfectly preserved medieval walled city. A visit must include a Walk along the Walls and a visit to the Chateau Comtal within the second set of walls. The city also boasts interesting museums and shops.
